LOS YUNGAS
It's called "Yungas" to
the lush and fertile valleys subtropical located in the foothills of the Cordillera de Los Andes in the
Department of La Paz.
Yungas "warm land" has a semi-tropical climate, lush vegetation and beautiful landscape. The
landscape is a mix of green slopes, cliffs, rivers, waterfalls and dense vegetation. Its height varies
between 1,500 and 2,500 m. This area receives abundant rainfall particularly during the summer months
(December to February), ideal for growing coffee, citrus, sugar cane and coca.
Taking the path to the summit, the road begins at 4725 meters in height down to 3,400 meters at only
80 kilometers. The best time to make this journey is spectacular in May and June, when dried and better
appreciated the impressive decline. This route can also be undertaken by bicycle, but only if it is quite
expert.
The region is impossible to observe and photograph wildlife, landscape, ecotourism, hiking, trekking,
biking, rafting, or if you prefer, quietly enjoying the warm weather, delicious fruit in a place that
seems transported in time, with all the comforts of today by the hotel infrastructure and services
Coroico, a small, picturesque village at the foot of the hill Uchumachi to 1,700 meters high.
With rivers Coroico, Santa Barbara and Vagante who has natural rock pools surrounded by forests where
you can take a refreshing swim and observe the surrounding landscape with a diversity of birds, butterflies
and crops in the region.
It has good services of accommodation, restaurants and discotheques where you can find both friends
and strangers to enjoy the night.
Cotapata National Park, is an integrated management area created to protect genetic resources and cultural
needs of the area.
In its journey from The Summit enjoys an interesting variety of landscapes, flora and fauna, as well
as waterfalls and river courses. Within this park is the way pre-Columbian The Choro, which passes through
different ecological zones from the 4700 to 1300 m.
