TARIJA
The city of Tarija
surrounded by the Guadalquivir River, is located 1924 meters above sea level, its climate is mild and
pleasant, its valleys have an average of 17 to 23 degrees and in the tropical places between 25 and 35
degrees, the rainy season includes the months of December through February.
In the city of Tarija can begin a tour of the Plaza of Luis Fuentes, the Cathedral, the Library of the Franciscans, Casa
Dorada, the church of San Roque, patron of the city, Beatriz Castle and of course the museums Archaeological, Mineralogy
and Paleontology of Tarija. The hill of San Juan is a beautiful park with pine trees from where they have a very good view
of the city.
San Lorenzo, is a quiet village surrounded by picturesque dairy farms and fields. Any weekend is conducive
to visit San Lorenzo, either to rest or to enjoy the food and pastries Creole, which highlights the unparalleled
rosquetes. It is located 16 km. birthplace of the city's national hero, guerrilla Eustatius Manuel Mendez,
called the "Moto Mendez," there you
can see a real Spanish colonial style with cobbled streets, tile roofs, buildings with balconies and bars, among them the
house del "Moto Méndez”,which is museum.
Vineyards and wineries on the 1,600 m.s.n.m. are highest in the world of which are extracted fruit wines
and singanis, known for their high quality. There are various kinds of industrial warehouses as Bodegas
La Concepcion, Kohlberg, Fields Solana and Casa Real, also with type cellars where they are produced
artisanal wines or sweet wines boats.
Tarijeña countryside, Tarija has the charm that characterizes this part of the country not only for
his people but also for its scenery and the surrounding Coimata spa with a waterfall that forms a natural
swimming pool with crystal clear waters. Other natural sites are the Rincon de la Victoria 18 km. the
city is a paradise with lots of vegetation, is one of the places of greatest tourist attraction of Tarija,
ideal for the weekend with a scene where the green is manifested in all its hues.
Jurita jets, 21 Km. of the city, falling or "blast" as it is commonly called, and not only
has considerable appeal by the natural charm that gives the vision of a body of water that is precipitated
from a height of over 40 m. and falls at the bottom, resembling dust of water that takes different shades
according to the intensity of the sun's rays and position of the sun.
