SUCRE

This beautiful city is the capital of Bolivia, the Supreme Court’ place  and Capital of the Chuquisaca Department.

The city is located in the South Central area of the country and lies at an altitude of 2,750 m. (9,100 feet). It is also known as Chuquisaca, Charcas and La Plata, which has received the nickname of "The City of Four Names." Since most of the colonial buildings in the center of town are painted white, which is also receives the name of "White City".

Sucre from the colonial era looks like a typical Spanish city. The narrow streets of the city center are organized in blocks or blocks, reflecting the Andalucan culture, which is also evidenced in the large mansions and the numerous monasteries and churches in the city.

Until the eighteenth century, Sucre was the center court, religious and cultural life of the entire region of the colony. In 1839, and in the Republican era, after the city was named capital of Bolivia, was re-named in honor of the independence leader Antonio José de Sucre. Tarabuco, 60 km. Sucre, on asphalt road whose altitude is 3292 meters above sea level It was founded by the Spaniards the second half of the sixteenth century.
